Very happy with this toy.

[[VIDEOID:mo3C0972E3T6O39]]My granddaughter loves this toy. When she first got it, she loved just playing with the balls, now she is older she enjoys all the elements; from pounding the balls with the hammer, to playing music. This toy has grown with her and will always be a staple for me when I buy gifts for children.

An awesome toy - until the end of the hammer came unglued from the post! :(

I love this toy. I have no idea if the xylophone is out of tune, it sounds fine to me, and we're not putting on a concert or anything. The sound isn't harmful to my ears. It sounds like any other toy xylophone I've heard. I say this because the way the negative reviews described the sound made me hesitate buying this, like it was going to be akin to nails on a chalkboard. Not so. It's not too hard to tap the balls through the holes, either. In fact, I would be absolutely 5-stars over the moon with this toy, except the hammer came apart within a couple days of *VERY* light use. I can't stress how light the use was. My baby carried it around with him for a couple days, and never even hit anything with it. In fact, before I even gave it to him, I noticed the top hammer part wiggling a bit and I just thought "well, I'll just keep my eye on it." Good thing because when it came off there were gobs of dried glue all over the post. They really should have made the hammer a single wooden, or even plastic, piece - Not a hunk of plastic shoddily (in my case) glued to a stick. Really disappointed with that.

This toy is AMAZING! My 13 month old daughter LOVES it
This toy is AMAZING! My 13 month old daughter LOVES it. She can actually hammer the little balls through the openings with no problem. She quickly learned to put the balls back on the toy to continue hammering (or sometimes just pushing them through with her hand). She loves to also watch me play with the xylophone then tries to make music herself. The toy is durable, it takes a beating and looks great even a few weeks later. The paint does not chip either. I am in love with HAPE toys and cannot wait to order more.
