Over all a great buy
By Paul McDermitt
Since there are no reviews here I thought I'd chime in. I have been playing guitars and bass for 30 years, many bands and have had dozens of guitars and basses over the years. This particular bass is for my 11 year old son who has recently taken up bass after 8 years behind a drum kit.
The Ibanez Gio Mikro is a fine little bass. The fit and finished (weathered black) is really good (not just good for a sub $200 guitar). The neck is a flat/matte finish so no sticky gloss, the frets are terrific with no high frets or long sharp fret edges. The pickups are punchy, clear and articulate capable of slap, mellow motown, funk, or blues - very versatile. The small scale and body fit my son perfectly. He also has a Squire Bronco which is a nice bass on its own. The bass sounds good through his Fender Rumble 25, my Hartke 3500, and Behringer 4500 both with 4x10 cabinets. Lots of fat, twangy, punchy bottom end. I was apprehensive about Ibanez being a Fender guy, but I know the name and the brand reputation, plus it was his money (I tried talking him into the Squire Jag SS). I haven't set it up yet, but out of the box it is pretty close to perfect. Two strings has the intonation slightly off and the action is about perfect.
The bag, in my opinion, is of medium quality. It certainly does the job but I have seen bags with thicker padding. The outside material is durable and has some nice pockets for cables, i-pads, tuners, strings, etc. The bag has very nice thick rubber reinforcement at the end pin where many bags wear out from standing them on end which is a very nice touch. Zippers and straps look adequate.
The tuner is made by the brand Joyo. I have a few of their pedals, being a sucker for a cheap deal, and I am always impressed with their quality. This tuner certainly maintains my high opinion of Joyo products. It is much better than my other headstock tuners and offers a variety of tuning options and is very accurate, well lit, and easy to read.
Since the bass has only been in the house for less than a week I cannot speak to the durability, but I have no doubt this little bass will be rattling the walls for years to come. I can diagnose and fix most small issues. As an older guy, I appreciate finally being able to play bass on the couch where traditional 34 inch scale basses are just too big and cumbersome to play on the couch. I enjoy playing it a lot too. Overall this is a great buy if you have smaller hands, have small living space, are a youngster, or just want something a little different.

" Excellent instrument for the little guy
By Amazon Customer
I bought this little bass for my 10 year old who wanted to round out our family "power trio." Excellent instrument for the little guy, and the price was right. No fret buzz out of the box, and it was in tune when it arrived, shockingly. The tuner that comes with it is decent. The bag had a small stitching miss of about 1" along one of the seams, but not enough to worry about in my opinion. We're happy with the instrument and would definitely buy it again at this price.
