The internal contacts do not have enough spring tension to hold a male plug seated in the female part of this adapter. Such poor contact results in spotty or no audio AND the plug falls out of this adapter so it's worse than useless. I waited several days for this to get to me and then I STILL had to go to Radio Shack and buy one anyway. This item is a total waste of time and money.

I need these to upgrade our hearing assist devices we are making available to our the patrons at a local community theater. The devices are monaural, so they have a mono jack and only one ear bud. I ordered a bunch of cheap stereo ear bud sets through Amazon and these to adapt them to the mono jack on the hearing assist device. Now our hearing challenged theater goers can listen with both ears. Radio Shack had only two of these available in the four stores within 20 miles of my house and none available on-line. I I have a couple of monaural audio devices at home which are made much more enjoyable through the use of these adaptors.

It works great, no static of any kind
By Linda A
I ordered a group of mini-lapel microphones, but needed the mono type jack. The group that arrived were not mono, they were stereo, meaning they had two black rings around the end of the jack. They didn't work for my device, so instead of returning them and paying for shipping, which would have costs me more than the microphones originally cost me, I decided to order this mono adapter plug. It works great, no static of any kind, and it fits nice and tight. https://www.amazon.com/review/create-review?ie=UTF8&asin=B002N1XMPO&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=172282&ref_=cm_cr_dp_wrt_summary&store=electronics#
