Product Description
Traditional-style rainstick, made from the Copado cactus and decorated with a woven fabric band (colors and styles will vary). The traditional rainsticks originated in northern Chile where they are used in ceremonies to bring rain. Made from the skeleton of dead Copado cactus. The thorns are pounded into the hollow shafts of the cactus into a spiral pattern. Pebbles cascading over the thorns create the wonderful sound of rain. Due to the natural materials used, this instrument is somewhat fragile in nature and will need to be handled with care. The size listed is approximate.

    4Beautiful sound
    By R. Ryan
I just received my rain stick from West Music today. It is beautiful, and the same length as advertised. I was expecting it to be a little thicker in diameter, but as it is, it wraps nicely in the hand. My stick came with bright yellow and orange yarn wrapping. There are a few growth scars on my stick that I think gives it more character. It produces a very soothing "light rain" sound when flipped slowly, or a short "downpour" sound when flipped quickly.

5Once in awhile I find something that is the perfect gift for them
    By Lilly Seneca
I ordered two 14" rain sticks for my granddaughters in San Diego. I live in Florida so I do not see them very often. Once in awhile I find something that is the perfect gift for them. I still have the 3' rain stick that I bought when I was teaching. I used it to get my elementary students' attention, No clapping, no yelling, no silent hand signals. The rain stick is loud enough for all to hear in about 5 seconds. I gave a rain stick to each of my interns (student teachers) as a parting gift. The rain stick is one piece so no clean up is necessary. They look nice on a shelf. I didn't have to worry about it when my students played with it because it is almost indestructible. I have 2 more grandchildren. I will order 2 more. The price is right so I can buy one for each of my grandchildren.

    1cheap rattle
    By Shannon Lodge
This should say "assorted colors", the picture shows one with blue (what I wanted and thought I ordered) but the one I got is red and orange. It is more of a rattle than a rain stick, the stuff inside moves through too quickly to sound anything like rain.
