Less wind sensitive - replaces my Sennheiser ME2 wireless mic
By Vibhas Kendzia
MIC-J 017 is the 3rd lavalier mic I am trying to replaces my Sennheiser ME2 wireless mic.
The cable is short and feels a little slimmer and flimsier than the ME2, but the shortness prevents entanglement.
The head clamp is bigger and feels more solid than ME2. I put a wind screen over, which made the mic look even bigger. With the windscreen there was no wind noise problem on my last weekends of outdoor events. The sound differences are minimal. The mic is a little more sensitive than the ME2, so I lifted the pad to 43db.
I tried also the MIC-J 016 Pro Lavalier Lapel Microphone JK MIC-J 016 for Sennheiser Wireless Transmitter - Noise Cancelling Condenser Mic which is significant more wind sensitive but smaller than the MIC-J 017. I think at the moment I prefer the MIC-J 017 for outdoor events (less wind sensitive)and the MIC-J 016 for indoors (less visible).
Both MIC's are 1/4 of the price of the Sennheiser Me2 Sennheiser ME 2 omni-directional lavalier EW microphone. I will update this review and let you know what the life time of this MIC's are. I have 80-90 outdoor and 20-30 indoor events a year where I will use this MIC's. I used 3 Sennheiser which had only a lifetime of 12-14 month.
I gave it only 4 points because it is more visible than the sennheiser mic. If it would be smaller, I would have given 5 stars.

Great value but a tad large
I have no issues with the sound quality of this microphone. It is very sensitive, in fact, leading me to turn down the recording level to prevent picking up background noise. It also seems very well constructed.
As others, I believe, have mentioned the only thing keeping this from being a 5-star product is the size. That said, it is not monstrous, but bigger than more expensive lav mics. Alone, it looks a lot like a regular lav mic with a windscreen, so it wouldn’t attract too much attention.
Add a windscreen and it grows to the size of large grape — not something I would recommend for professional video/ broadcast but certainly not ridiculous for amateur, semi-pro or PA use. Like most electronic items, if you want the smallest and lightest of anything you should be prepared to pay for it. Otherwise, this is probably one of the better values you are going to find.

Mic great clip not so good
By Amazon Customer
Microphone works great, the clip not so much. The clip broke the first time I used it. The clip itself is metal, the part that holds the mic is plastic, I put it on my tie and about 10 min later it was hanging, I noticed the clip had broken. Luckily I had another clip that worked on the wire. Have to see if they will send me out a new clip. That is the only reason it lost 2 stars, clip broke first time I used it. Sound quality was very good with this mic.
