I purchased this instrument for my 5 y.o. daughter to begin learning. On first inspection the guitar is super lightweight. The headstock is a tad large by comparison, but forgivable. The tuning pegs turned cleanly and the volume pot was smooth with no crackling when plugged in. This is my first experience with a 1/2-size guitar so I had to do a little research on tuning conventions which led me to understand that either "A" or "G" is most desirable due to the scale length and string tension. The finish is a sort of metallic flake pink which I think my daughter will certainly love and it appears to be pretty decent overall. The neck is a 4-bolt pattern but there is no bolt plate, only washers.
The most common complaint I have read is that the guitar is not "tuned" or "set up" right out of the box. For people who have never bought instruments before this may be a surprise but it wasn't for me. I have set up many a guitar. I did find, as others have, that the fixed saddle on this model is just a little bit forward of where it needs to be in order to get the intonation correct. I can get it close, but it really needs to be another 1/8-3/16" back.
A neck at this scale length should not be subject to enough tension to really require adjustment of the truss rod. I lowered the action at the bridge just a little (allen wrench is included) and set the intonation with a needle tuner.
The amplifier seems a little cheap, but it works. I wasn't really expecting something that she would blow the windows out of our house with. That will come later.
Overall not a bad little rig, and the saddle location makes this a 4 instead of a 5 out of 5 based on my overall expectations.
The gig bag appears to not be entirely sewn about one side so that will also have to be fixed.

... with the individual who stated that it was a great started but required a few tweaks
I have to agree with the individual who stated that it was a great started but required a few tweaks. I received the guitar, and then I noticed the intonation issues. At first I started the normal tuning and adjustments, but I just couldn't get it right. Then I read the reviews on Amazon, and I saw that others had to adjust the bridge by removing the ends of the screws as well as tuning up to get more tension on the strings. I went with an open G tuning, and it sounds great now. Once you combine this with a HoneyTone amp it sounds awesome for a 5-year old.

Everything we expected
Day one review: I ordered this for my son to play Rocksmith on the PS3. He had been using a pickup attached to his acoustic guitar, which worked fine. This works much better.
The shipping was fast and well packaged. All the parts were included. The guitar looks great. The color is better than I expected. The wood grain shows through very nicely. The guitar also feels very solid. All the joints are snug, none of the frets felt sharp or unfinished. The pick, strap and bag are all lower quality products, but it's a bargain price so I expected that.
My son and I are both amateurs, so this is my first experience with an electric guitar. We plugged it in and tuned it up and it sounded great. It tuned well and held it for about four straight hours of playing.
I don't know much about guitars, but this one seems to work as advertised.
